Métis Research
The term "Métis" is used broadly to describe people with mixed First Nation and European ancestry that identify themselves as Métis, distinct from Indian, Inuit or non-Aboriginal people. (Many Canadians have mixed Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal ancestry, but not all identify themselves as Métis). https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/aboriginal-heritage/metis/Pages/metis-genealogy.aspx
Member Surname List
The AGS List was discontinued in June 2018 due to a lack of inquiries in more than five years; the degraded database was no longer sustainable; and there are many superior options to research surnames such as www.surnamefinder.com ; http://boards.rootsweb.com/surname.aspx ; and http://www.curiousfox.com .
