Cemetery Burial Indices

A bit about our work

The recording of local cemeteries is one of the most important tasks of local family history groups.  In 1982 the Abbotsford Genealogical Society started to record the memorial information from thirteen of the cemeteries in the boundaries of the Cities of Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Agassiz. Various committees and individuals of the Society have continued this recording over the years.

There has been no recording of the First Nations cemeteries by the AGS.

Through the extensive efforts over the years of many AGS volunteers, this information is available to the public by checking the index for the appropriate community and contacting the Cemetery Transcription Coordinator with details of your inquiry (full name, date of birth, date of death). A small fee may apply.

Rather than continuing to record all of the memorial information available on every gravestone, each marker is photographed. The photos, as they are completed, can be found by clicking here to the CanadaGenWeb’s Cemetery Project website.

If you do not find what you are looking for please contact President Pat Confrey with details; every effort will be made to assist you.
